2.40 – 3.00pm: Fourth critique
Note: Times are strictly tight so that the critiques are delivered in a clear and effective manner. See rules below
Rules:
In order for the critique sessions to be effective and beneficial, we have set some guideline rules:
- The artwork must be present in order to be seen in the flesh/ unless it is digital. If it is digital, bring in your laptop.
- Each person participating in the crit session needs to say at least one thing positive and one thing that is constructive in order to deliver and add constructive balance to criticism/discussion that is taking place around the work.
- The aim of the group is to be honest and supportive to the artist, whilst maintaining a useful approach. The purpose of a crit group is to receive honest feedback on your artwork.
- The first half (10 minutes) of each critique will be geared at gaining the viewer comments/response and so the artists will remain present, but will not enter into any discussion so to gain as much as possible from the feedback. At the end of this phase of discussion the artist will then be given the chance to deliver a 10 minute summary on their work. Note: If the work is very conceptual, the artist may choose to reverse this process and take the floor first. Please advise beforehand. Also, remember that work needs to speak for itself, as you won’t always be at the side of your work.
Please email in your interest/bookings to us. If you are interested in having your work critiqued, then please include details of your work and how you would like your critique run.
Please feel free to forward this onto anyone you think who may be interested.
And please register your interest in attending and/or being critiqued
Kind regards

Hi Selene, I would love to be involved but I live in Nelson so obviously not possible. I just wanted to say that I think this is a great initiative and well done on putting it together. best wishes, Lisa
Hi Lisa
Thank you. Satellite Gallery has been a major player in this. Maybe you could start something in Nelson. It is so importat to get a crit. Thanks for your post. All the best. Selene.
Fantastic idea! I’ve been thinking about setting up a crit group myself, now i don’t need too! Unfortunately being Queens birthday weekend i have other arrangements but would love to join you for the next. Will it always be 1st Sunday of the Month? Thanks.
Hey Ruby
Yes Queens Birthday is upon us! Time is flying. At the moment the 1st Sunday of each month is the plan. Look forward to seeing you at the next crit group
